Roadside Americana

This is the outside of Jennie's Diner. It's an original 50's diner and they serve all kinds of food 24hrs a day including pancakes that are bigger than hubcaps. It's a very popular stop for truckers. Next week I'll give you a peak inside.

Great pictures, James. Love the blue of the sky. Diners are always a favorite of mine.

Cool, best places to eat are the ones where the trucks stop! The Food Channel has a show called 'Diners and Dives'. They take you into some pretty interesting places. Can't wait to see the inside of this one. What a blue sky...looks like a great day to do some exploring!

The state of this shop and the neon sign seems to be totally one scene of the American film.

de l'art deco, un "Diner" , la vraie Amérique. Le plus beau pour moi, restant l'Empire Diner à NYC.

My grandfather used to take me sometimes to such diners, that he lovingly called 'greasy spooons.' They weren't, at least to my childish critieria.

Great pictures. Love those old looking places. I had the same problems with my foto's here yesterday James. Just saw little crosses where my foto's should be.I tried every site to see what was wrong but it went away later and I can see ecerything again now.

Big pancakes - yumm. But often, my appetite is bigger than my stomach... :)

These photos are great - never been to one of these, but it would be fun. I like the last photo, gives an idea of the surrounding.

Sooooo american view!!I guess I already know how the tables are, and a woman will come and give you some coffee from a coffee-pot (a thing that french people never do!)
I'm impatient to see the inside!

FANTASTIC! «Louis» likes it!
«Louis» is very much 'into' '50s Americana.

Gotta love that sign and chrome facade!

Ken Mac of New York (Greenwich) will love this too.

Oh such a lovely backdrop from the sign. You do get a lot of clear skies in Pennsylvania :)

Wow, a wonderful piece of "Americana"! Can't wait to see inside. I notice the neon sign is lit up, and the "R" is not. At night, it probably reads "DINE"!

I once rented a car for a week in California, but somehow I never got to visit a proper diner like this. I seem ti have missed something.

This is something classic: I love the place and the sign. And probably the pancakes...

Another classic. I miss those diners, especially the ones stretching along the way from Philly to the Jersey shore. Those menus were always soooo huge too. Great study in silver and blue. Now I must go eat some pancakes!

Our favorite hangout when we were young was the diner in town. Great food and good friends.
Thanks for the wonderful memories, James.
